Poor Lucien.......Love is truly a four letter word to him. Relationships are simply an anathema to him. Convinced that he won't remain faithful to Sophie because his Father cheated on his Mother he decides not to fall in love. And in this book he finds that it doesn't really work out all that well for him. Lonely and sick at heart he is called back to Norway where his Father lies dying. This book is truly a love story done in the old tradition. Wonderful in it's many emotional shades. When Sophie finds out he has left England to go home to Norway she packs up her pride and goes after him unable to have him face this trauma alone. Lucien had returned several letters to his Father unopened over the years. So at the hospital his Father opens his eyes long enough to watch Lucien read this final letter he had written to him. This is a great scene and will bring a moment to anyone who has lost a parent, especially if their estranged. It sends him back to Sophie determined to not end up that solitary old man who let ameaningless fling cost him everything dear to him. It was a wonderful scene. Naturally it has a great HEA ending and I would recommend it to all.....it's a TEN

Where Knight and Play was about Sophie Book 2 is more about Lucien and his feels….yep he has feels. This second one was fantastic as well. There was definitely some sexy scenes but there was a lot more meat and feelings through out the story. I would have thought that Sophie’s husband would have played a bigger part in this story but he didn’t and honestly the book came out better for it. Sophie is now taking her new found confidence to another battle. She takes on Lucien Knight in a battle of emotions. Lucien swears he doesn’t have any and if you have read the 1st book you know he just has them locked away. Don’t get me wrong Sophie didn’t get to a place where she could take on Lucien without trouble but that isn’t the main focus. The main focus is that she CHOSE to go back to Lucien and be his “PA”, CHOSE to go to Paris with him and then CHOSE to take him on again in Norway even after he was a first class ass. Sophie learned that she has the power and that was beautiful and in the end she wields her skill well. Lucien on the other hand well…he’s stubborn and can be mean. That guy pissed me off at least twice in this book. The first time when he went on his diner date and the second time when he ran off to Norway without a word. -_- infernal man just face the music already!
I think my favorite part of this book was of course Paris and the Epilogue. I love the change that has come over Lucien from page 1. I LOVE that the author chose to develop HIM and merely highlight what was already there for Sophie instead of the other way around. I love that even though Sophie faced rejection, in so many ways including Lucien being an emotionally closed off jerk, that she still had the lady balls to follow her heart.
This was just as well written as the first book and just as enthralling. I just couldn’t stop reading. I liked that this one dove more into the feelings of the characters vs the genitals ) It’s always wonderful to read about the dirty sex but it is also nice to see a sweet plot resolution as well.
There is a 3rd book in the trilogy however it has to do with Kara (Sophie’s Best friend) and i am not really that interested. It is noted that the 3rd book could be a stand alone novel but it is reccommended to read the first two. I probably wont do that. my curiosity was slaked by the end of this book and i emerged happy at the end.

In book 1 we followed Lucien and Sophie in their whirlwind affair, set out to teach Sophie's cheating husband a lesson by exploring Sophie's sexuality. Coming back from the cliff hanger at the end of book 1 where Sophie's husband and Lucien were about to come face to face, book 2 opens up with the confrontation and blow-out. What follows is the much less of a romance and more of a roller-coaster as Lucien and Sophie are faced with the aftermath of their affair.

Sophie has come a long way since the shy, unassuming and prudish girl we met in book 1. In book 2 she will be faced with a marriage in turmoil and the aftermath of an affair with her boss. Her husband is regretting his affair, Sophie has developed feelings for Lucien and Lucien... he can make no promises. That's a hard pill to swallow, even for someone as meek as Sophie. Still she can't just walk away

Lucien is very adamant that his playboy lifestyle really works for him and though he is willing to make some concessions to keep his sexual relationship with Sophie, he is as non-committal as they come
"I want sex with you now, but that doesn't mean I'm going to want sex with you for the rest of my life."
Sophie tries to go back to work Lucien and Lucien does his best to seduce her back into his bed. The sex was scorching, with many, many memorable scenes

I will say no more. I want you to enjoy the unfolding and conclusion as much as I did! The Knight series offers the best of a hero, steamy sex and roller-coaster ride of a romance. I highly recommend! Thanks Ms. French!
